Enter The Void

Firstly I have no respect for Lil Wayne because his lyrics are shallow and superficial. He puts great emphasis on materialism but he obviously has no respect for his fans and in general everyone because the global economy is dire and there are people starving and living in poverty while he is bragging about the millions he’s making. He puts so much emphasis on being wealthy and this is dangerous because anyone who is in a position of influence will easily influence the masses of teenagers that listen to his music. He has taught people that we should only aim for monetary value. Lil Wayne’s music is not thought evoking or meaningful.

I also have no respect for him because he calls himself the ‘greatest rapper alive’, if he had any respect for hip hop he would not be saying this as there are many living legends still in hip hop such as Nas, Eminem, Ice Cube, Dr Dre and Mos Def (just to name only a few). His skills as a rapper are mediocre at best and just because he made the odd ‘meaningful’ song (How to Love) does not make him a deep and talented artist. How to Love pales when compared to other hip hop songs such as Dance With the Devil- Immortal Technique and Brenda’s Got a Baby- Tupac.

It’s sad that I even have to make this post but I am forced because Lil Wayne is so damn popular and I’m still trying to get my head around why he is so popular. There are so many other rappers out there that could do so much more than him lyrically and spiritually. Lil Wayne does not deserve the credit or praise he receives. So start listening to some rappers with better skills and real meaning.
